Decomposition of rotational distortion caused by VTL difference using eigenvalues of its transformation matrix

چکیده
In speech recognition studies, vocal tract length normalization (VTLN) techniques are widely used to cancel ageand genderdifference. In VTLN, the distortion is often modeled as a linear transform in a cepstrum space; ĉ=Ac. In our previous study, the geometrical properties ofA were discussed and it was shown that the matrix can be approximated as rotation matrix. In this study, a new method of better approximating A is proposed. Using eigenvalues ofA, its quasi-rotational distortion is factorized into multiple rotation operations and multiple magnification operations. Using this method, the intrinsic ambiguity of the rotation angle used in our previous study is resolved. Instead, multiple rotation angles are introduced to understand better what kind of geometrical distortionsA induces to cepstrum vectors. Experiments show the validity of the new method and a new speech feature is also derived by the new method.

Rotational Properties of Vocal Tract Length Difference in Cepstral Space
In this paper, we prove that the direction of cepstrum vectors strongly depends on vocal tract length and that this dependency is represented as rotation in a cepstrum space. In speech recognition studies, vocal tract length normalization (VTLN) techniques are widely used to cancel ageand gender-difference. In VTLN, a frequency warping is often carried out and it can be modeled as a linear tran...
متن کاملReduced-Reference Image Quality Assessment based on saliency region extraction
In this paper, a novel saliency theory based RR-IQA metric is introduced. As the human visual system is sensitive to the salient region, evaluating the image quality based on the salient region could increase the accuracy of the algorithm. In order to extract the salient regions, we use blob decomposition (BD) tool as a texture component descriptor. A new method for blob decomposition is propos...
متن کاملSome results on Haar wavelets matrix through linear algebra
Can we characterize the wavelets through linear transformation? the answer for this question is certainly YES. In this paper we have characterized the Haar wavelet matrix by their linear transformation and proved some theorems on properties of Haar wavelet matrix such as Trace, eigenvalue and eigenvector and diagonalization of a matrix.

The matrix converter instability can cause a substantial distortion in the input currents and voltages which leads to the malfunction of the converter. This paper deals with the effects of input filter type, grid inductance, voltage fed to the modulation algorithm and the synchronous rotating digital filter time constant on the stability and performance of the matrix converter. The studies are ...
متن کاملThe Performance of an Hexahedron C* Element in Finite Element Analysis
The performance of an 8-noded hexahedron C1* element in elasticity is investigated. Three translational displacements and their derivatives as strain in each direction are considered as degrees of freedom (d.o.f.’s) at each node. The geometric mapping is enforced using a C0 element with no derivative as nodal d.o.f.’s . The stiffness matrix of the element is also computed using a transformation...
